East River/ Lower Hudson 10/23
« on: October 24, 2008, 10:19:30 AM »
I was out last night in the East River.
I left the dock around 7pm ish and got to Hell's Gate. Fished the ebb tide, with Gulp eels and some live eels. Also fished the UN building and later on the 31bouy.

Three of us had:

3 keepers to 34" (2 of which was from the 31 bouy)
6 shorts, smallest of which was 22" (most of these came from Hell's Gate)

Most of the fish came up on Gulp as did the bigest fish of the night. They were all released to fight another day.

Thanks guys...
I rigged the Gulp eel the same way I do a live eel, a three by three rig.  A 2-3' leader with a sinker and same amount of leader with a hook and the eel thru the head.

The east river fishing seems to be slowing down...I might head down tot he SH or Roamer shoal for tomorrow...
