Finally got a chance to hop aboard with Rod on his new boat today. Joining us was Rod's brother-in-law, Ray.
The plan was to do some bucktailing and clamming inside the bay and maybe go outside if the conditions looked better than Saturday. After trying the inside thing for awhile and hearing of decent ocean conditions we headed out the inlet.
Drifting with clams just north of the inlet produced only a couple of doggies for us. So Rod broke out the trolling rods and we trolled our way further north for a while. Again, nothing. We found many scattered pods of bunker, and managed to snag a few to liveline, but that resulted in a few half eaten menhaden but still no hookups. We did manage to catch one decent bluefish on a Storm Shad though (go figure).
Our lack of catching was certainly not from a lack of trying, as Rod kept moving and trying to put us on fish. We definitely put our time in today!
We even came back inside to try our luck again, but it was to no avail.
Anyway, it was a really beautiful day on the water today. And it was great to get out with Rod and Ray on Rod's new boat, which BTW, is also a real beauty!
