Beaches taking a beating...
« on: November 15, 2008, 02:11:00 PM »
Hi All,

Just returned from the beaches from Lavellette to IBSP.  The erosion and scarfing is pretty bad.  If your are going to venture out later be careful as much of the beach is now offshore and suspended in the water.  It will take a while before it all comes back.

At high tide I am thinking A21 and A11 in the park will impassable so watch your timing of high tide.  SSP is not to bad but Ortley has some nasty scarfing by the main lifeguard station at 4th Ave.

The holes have changed once again so do yourself a favor and scout out at low tide for the new holes.  It is going to be interesting once this slows down to see what happens.

Even though the wind is really cranking the wave action is not to bad so it is still fishable if you really want to venture out in this wind.  I would think needlefish or heavy metals would work in these winds like AVA 47's or Deadly Dicks.

The fish are there but not many out to take advantage of them.  I will probably be out in the park tomorrow to see what I can pick up.

Good Luck

Happy Catching

Paul

Thanks for the report Paul. I am hoping to get onto the beaches down here on Monday but I wont have any chance to go scout things out.  :'( It's tough to scout when you live an hour from the beach, but I am sure there is a striped beauty out there waiting for me somewhere!  5hrug

Hey AK,

I might be able to join you keep me posted.  My daughter is leaving for Florida the day before Thanksgiving and I have no idea what to expect before that as she is frantically getting things done for college before the break.

Just checked the tides for this week and it seems like the high tide will be at mid morning for Monday 10:12 to be exact.  I have noticed that the out going lately has been the best, I wish it would make up its mind.

I might give it a try at the top of the high and see what happens, especially with a west wind the change should be good.  The only thing I don't like is that the barometer is up to 30.00 and rising fast.

Oh well it will be good to get out of the studio and the house for a while.

It has changed a lot since last week.  There are areas that you have to be careful at high tide.  I will be scouting it out this week again to mark spots.  It is nice to have the whole beach once again from Gillikins to the inlet.  I would say easily about 9 miles of easy riding.
