Fish On 11/9/08 Anglers stick to basics this week and score
« on: November 09, 2008, 07:12:08 PM »
Striped bass continue to hang around the Garden State from Sandy Hook to Barnegat Light. Massive schools of sand eels and small baitfish continue to thrive off the surf and anglers are sticking to basics. Jigging and trolling should continue to produce bass right into December.Mid week produced some nice catches for anglers who stayed away from the weekend crowds.

From Pt. Pleasant the Gambler had some good trips this week drifting over readings that produced some keepers and plenty of big bluefish. Kroc lures worked best on the drift. Congratulations to Mike from Jackson who won the pool with a 30lber, hopefully a sign of bigger fish headed our way.

Captain Ryan and crew on Jamaica II switched it up this week for some serious bottom fishing. The crew stayed busy as patrons filled coolers to the rim. High hook was Mack from Bristol who hauled 97 Ling and 1 Cod over the rails. Luis had 81 Ling. Omar with 67 Ling.
Joey Cheng from Jersey City bagged 74 Ling and 2 Cod. Captain Ryan will continue to work the off shore wrecks while the action remains red hot.

Captain Scott on Prowler 5 also mixed it up with a mixed bounty from jumbo porgies, sea bass and blackfish up to 10lbs. Captain Scott will sail daily this week and with some good weather he will continue to work the offshore wrecks.

Captain Allen aboard Reel Class Charters from Pt.Pleasant worked north and east of the inlet in about 55-65' of water.Captain Allen found some patches of birds working sand eels, and moments after putting the jigs in the water they were into fish. The crew had a slow but fair pick of fish. On the troll and jigs, they picked away at bass and blues. Despite nasty conditions they ended the day with a dozen bass to 29", and a half dozen bluefish to 12lbs.3-7 oz. Kroc jigs were the ticket. Pearl shad rigs also put fish in the boat as well as a chartreuse stretch 25.You can check out Captain Allen and other local charters at www.NJSALTWATERFISHERMAN.com

Great report fishon, thanks alot.

One quick question... you say 30lb fish, nice for "this time of year." That is unqustionably a nice fish.  But when would you consider a better time for cows then now?
