Anyone ever see any seals in this area? Seaside LBI? I swear I saw one when I was up at seaside Park last week.

I used to see them in and near Barnegat Inlet many years ago when I was stationed at Barnegat Light. (1969-1971)  TT^

Nothing new about them being there.  t^

I have seen a few off of Ortley this year and last year there were a couple right up on the sand sunning themselves just north of the north jetty in IBSP.

You can see them every once in a while rolling in the bait balls, they are dark brown and they seem strange at first going after bait till you realize that they are not fish but seals rolling, the give away? No fins along the back...

Pretty cool... t^

Yeah, I have seen them also!  Pretty cool...wreak havoc on the fish though and fihsing becomes non existent when they are around.  They are as fun to watch as the dolphins, but can scare the you know what out of you when the pop up in a wave or on the beach right next to you.

They usually venture down here when it gets cold, but the water is down into the low 50's already so...

Last winter there were several young ones that came up in the Toms River Twp Section of the Beach that were injured and/or ill and were rescued by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center.

My Brother saw them in Staten Island when he was wiring a beach house about 20 years ago. :-\
