Deadly Bionic Bucktail Spinnerbait??
« on: December 27, 2008, 09:49:33 AM »
My wife bought me a couple of these Bionic Bucktail Spinnerbaits for christmas at Pro Bass Shop. The lures say they are good for Big pike and Muskie. Do you guys think they will be any good for fishing around here? "Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook area"??   My dad thinks the Stripers might like them??  Or should I save them for my summer Lake George trip?  Thanks,  Eddie chrz

They look great . I would keep them for Lake George or some small lake or rivers . You might end up getting them cut off by some blues . If you want I will take them to lake kING FOR YOU  TT^ The old saying if a fish is hungry he will hit anything. Good luck with your new toys ;D

I think they would work for stripers......I have a few big ones from my pike/musky trips...worth a try....but as said, mr. bluefish will tear them apart.

I agree, I think they would work for Stripers and if you could get them to the bottom, fluke as well!  I would just worry about snags and blues tearing them apart.  I hate losing lures, especially nice ones.

save yourself the money. don't use them in fresh water.. the bluefish will destroy it, bend the wire, etc.  You will lose a spinnerbait on every cast. The blues will get it way before the stripers will.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.

I've always been one for experimenting with new and different baits and ways to catch 'em.  And since spinnerbaits are one of my favorite things to throw in freshwater, naturally I've used them in the salt as well. ;D

I've caught fluke, bluefish and stripers on them.  All of my saltwater spinnerbait fishing was done in the back bays (Barnegat, Great Bay) and in mostly shallow water (10' or less).  However, many of the stripers I've caught on them were by helicoptering them off the edges of the sod banks in 20' to 30' of water. t^

For stripers, just a regular, white, 6" Gotcha curly tail grub on them (like I use on bucktails).  For fluke, either a squid strip or killie or both.  Of course, this was all B.G. (Before Gulp!).  If I threw one now for fluke I'd probably tip it with a 4" Swimming Mullet. t^
