I agree with Capt. Bob. This time of year the fish are moving so fast you could be into blues and then 30 mins later nothing and switch baits and your into bass. Right now I would recommend clams on a 8/0 circle hook with a slider for bass, for blues in the surf break out the metal lures anything you have will probably work.
If your looking for a good verity of lures at a reasonable price try Wal Mart. If your not sure what to use pick a good Bait & Tackle shop and start asking questions.
I am sure the guys in this forum will share their favorates. I was told to try the AVA-47 with a green tube (Thanks Ed) but have not caught anything on it yet. I also like the blue and white Hopkins poppers they will work for bass as well. It is so cool seeing a fish slam into a top water lure I never get tired of it.
