Baking soda?

This probably sounds silly but if baking soda removes deposits off of a battery could it be used to flush an outboard?

Baking soda removes deposits from a battery because those deposits are acidic, forming from the acid fumes escaping from the battery. The baking soda is basic which neutralizes the deposits making them easy to remove.

I don't know about flushing your engine with baking soda. I don't really see any point to it. You flush your engine to remove the salt. Fresh water would work well enough for this.

the grit from the baking soda would be just like running sand through your water pump.....not good
