The guys that do not use the electric reels, will use a high gear ration reel, and pack it with braided line. I like the Torium 30 with a 60-65 braid. You will feel the bottom in those depths, plus you will retrieve 42" per crank. This is a nice reel without spending too much money.  Good Luck!  t^

I wouldn't know a Tilefish if I slipped on one but Northeast Angling did a show on them this year. May want to check out thier website.

I believe they used high speed Shimano's. They are sponsored by Shimano so take it for what it is...Hard to go wrong with Shimano stuff though.
