CapeMay SeaBass trip, 2/2/09
« on: February 03, 2009, 03:05:21 PM »
I had to make up for the trip I missed on Friday.

I heard the fishing was slow on the weekend but decided to go out anyway, after watching the weather all night.

We fished only hammered jigs from 7oz to 9oz tipped with squid, and we slaughtered em. We got our limit of fish to 7lbs,released a lof of fish to 3 pounds.

The seas were big but they were swells and no white caps and no real wind.We were fishing off a 32' Scarab named "FastFoward" with capt Mike. Him and KilSong kept us in fish all day.
I'll post pics when I get to my home CPU.   t^ t^

Had to come home...I was so tired and sore..lol.

that's me with one of the many big fish that came up.  The 7 1/2oz hammered jig looks tiny in his mouth...

Here's Mike with a nice fish...

 Bryan with a nice one...

KilSong, master of all things jigs and poppers, with  a few nice ones..

You see me in the back pulling in fish?  :D

KilSong and Mike took us out to some rocky area and the fishing was non stop...

Thanks all...  slt

We fished off a KilSongs Buddy's privat boat. We chipped in for gas and brought food and drinks and jigs and squid strips. It was four of us and we drifted a large bed of rocks.

I was asleep on the run out and in and really don't know where they went, but we ran out a good 50 to 60 miles out of Cape May.

Most of the good fish were all off the bottom a good 30-40feet. If we got a hit right after the jig hit bottom, it was a small fish.  We would have to crank a good 12-20 times very slowly and then do a very slow up and down motion of the rod and boom.
