Do you need one if you cross the line in the bay or is it where you leave from or where the boat is registered?

Spoke

with NY DEc this morning.....good news for Charter Party Boats is the $250 permit we have been getting for Stripers will cover all on board for a fish lic.....

bad news anybody fishing in NY waters must have the Lic, no matter where you dock/launch from.

No reciprication like on the Delaware River

Well that is better news.  Will they have a combo freshwater/saltwater and let you get it done all in one?

Isn't the Delaware River Reciprocity only with Pennsylvania?  I believe as soon as you hit the Delaware Line you have to have a Delaware Saltwater License. Funny thing is, Delaware owns all of the water from high tide mark out.  So, if you fish from NJ Land you are ok, but as soon as you are in the water you have to have the license.

cmon big govt stimulate the economy

give NJ boaters a free Non Res- NY License. You just need to show you paid '09 boat reg fees or vessel documentation fees.

I will do my part by buying more gas oil and bait.

win win win everyone is stimulated

or just add more taxes and fees and see the opposite effect then act surprised from your helicopter

That certainly makes sense, unfortunately, history has showed that no matter what fees and taxes are imposed people will still spend the money on fuel, oil and bait and tackle.  And if they don't, the government is not losing out.  Government in general ALWAYS gets its money...

I am not against fishing licenses.  I just think the administration of the licenses gets out of control.  Having to have 2 or 3 or more licenses to go fishing in one body of water is ridiculous and becomes a hassle.  Just another way for the government to make money when accidental violations occur 5hrug.

It should atleast cover all waters. If you buy a NY license, you should be able to fish fresh and salt with one. I don't think I want to buy 4 of them to fish NJ and NJ.

I cannot find any confirmation of the license passing.  Please post a URL that has corroboration.  We are about to "officially" start a dialog here in NJ.  Thank you.

Free Fishing Days
Each year, the last full weekend in June is designated as Free Fishing Days in New York State. During those two days, anyone can fish New York State waters, and no fishing license is required.

Going to many fishing the north part of the bay that weekend!

Me neither. The link Diesel posted applies to non-tidal and Hudson River tributaries only. Unless I am reading it incorrectly  ???  5hrug

From what I was told Sunday, nothing yet and if it does pass, they can't do it till Oct 1St.
As per the NY DEC.

NY license is 10/1 till 9/30 not 1/1 - 12/31
