Fluke teasers
« on: February 12, 2009, 12:44:32 PM »
For those of you who like to use teasers while bucktailing or dragging bait for fluke, 2 of the best tyers of teasers will have booths at the Freeport, Long Island Sportsman show this coming weekend. This is probably one of your only chances to visit these guys at any show.

I've attended this show in the past just to make purchases from these guys. Plus, since it is a relatively small show there are alot of vendors from LI that don't do the bigger or NJ shows-so there is always the chance of finding something different.

As much as I would like to re-supply my teaser boxes, it is highly doubtful I'll be able to make it out there. On the slight chance that I do, it will be Sunday.

Do they have a web site or available via mail?

LI is a long drive for me but I would like to see what they have

All my fluke rigs I make are the same although the colors can vary. three way at the bottom with single hook on two foot leader and sinker. 18 inches above that is a dropper loop with a teaser looped on it. I sometime use a full size hook but more often I put a clouser fly on the drop loop. When they are on grass shrimp they always go for the fly insted of the larger strip bait or gulp on the bottom.

I, for the most part, use teasers on all my surf gear.  I love to tie them and have tied quite a few over the winter.  I have a varied number of types and colors as things change so fast during the season.

Barrell, I also have the same set up and it works quite well.  I can say that I usually catch more fish on the teasers than on the metal or plug that is working behind it.  I have changed over to a circle hook and have had great success especially late in the season when the fish are spooked a lot easier with less food in the water.

I would really like to see some photo of the rigs that some of you guys are making yourselves.

I finally have some time to start doing this stuff.

I'm with Paul, I use teasers on all of my fluke rigs (and any other) that I cast from the beach., I have picked up many fish on the teaser. As far as what I drop when drifting from the "Asalt Weapon" , I prefer the big Spro Bucktail jigs with a stinger hook attached to the jig, with a long strip of bait, (mackerel if I had a good trip over the winter), from the jig to the stinger hook, to get the big bites. Try it, it works, if you are in the right spot. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

If your looking for some photos go to:

http://njsaltwaterfisherman.com/forums/index.php?topic=3855.0

There is a whole thread full of them.  I did notice that there are some pictures missing just look below the post and click on the attachment.  I guess this is a remnant from when we switched over.

Later in toe thread the pictures are okay so enjoy... t^

Happy Catching
