Hi All,

NJSaltWaterFisherman.com is pleased to announce:

The First Annual NJSaltWaterFisherman.com Blue Claw Crab Contest

The rules are as follows:

1.   Contest is open to all NJSaltwaterFisherman.com registered members.

2.  There is no entry fee.

3.  The contest will start at midnight on Saturday, May 26, 2007 and end at 11:59 PM on Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2007.

4. There is no "weigh in station." This is an "honor system event." We will need the following for a blue claw crab to qualify: 

* A picture of the blue claw crab with a ruler under it (both sides of the crab please). We must be able to read the ruler in the picture. A quarter must also be in the picture! Really ...
 
* Information to be submitted is your name; address; NJSaltwaterFisherman.com screen name; home number where we can contact you; date of catch; and general location of catch.

* Entries can be done via email; Forum post; or mail. If done by mail, the entry needs to be received before September 3, 2007 - sorry. A mailing address will be provided upon request.

5. No females are to be entered!

6. Prizes:

* 1st Prize: $100
* 2nd Prize: $50
* 3rd Prize: $25

There will be a random drawing of all entries for a $25 prize.

7. A person can win all places. The $25 drawing will NOT include the place winners.

8. Any state record blue claw crab gets $250 if you agree to publish an article and picture only on our website. We will write the article if you need help.

9. For any ties, the pot will be split by Rod and myself equitably.

The full moon shed is past. Time to get some entries in.

I for one am screwed. I went past where I put my traps in for the last 20 years ... not happening right now. Some commercial guy sprinkled 50 or so traps in the spot. I don't know how he even got them all in that space.

Time to scope out a new crab spot,

first time crabbin  kinda fun caught a few. Not sure what big is but he was around 6". sure there are lots bigger that get caught but as i said this is my first time. OH never leave your cooked crabs unattended with the kids around just an FYI ! they never had them before  and guess what they ate ALL dads dozen crabs while he was out cooking on the grill!  :'(

Here is my crab entry.  I went with my fiance to barnegat bay today and did some crabbing.  We took home 9 males, all around 5in. We crabbed from the dock/wall off rt.35 with hand lines and some traps. 
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
