Ain't like it's a recent problem. Lead has been there for decades, spills from NY and NJ all the time.  Real shame and just more ammo for the anti-fishing groups >:(

just look what is comming off the kinbuc site and going into the river then there is the dump right across the river ,when we get the right wind all the bags blow over the fence and land where we run our boats .I spend alot of time in all these areas walking and fishing ,it is amazing you can find all kinds of nastey crap .I talk to old timers that used to work these areas and they tell stories of trucks w/ stuff to toxic to dump so they had to bury the enire trailer .welcome to nj

The lead has been there for fifty years or more and getting into the bay and food chain. Can't be good but not a reason to panic. This is common knowledge about chemical and heavy metal pollution in our waters. Years of sediment covering over the contaminated soil helps to reduce impact. Removing the soil will make it worse as does dredging. Why are they doing this now? I think there is something fishy here. nosmly nosmly

I've fished these waters for over 40 years and can see how it is much cleaner than it was 30 to 40 years ago.this is an existing condition that was there.having worked in the chemical industry for 34 years and have seen some pretty bad things on waste disposal before laws were passed to protect the enviroment.does this worry me because these are the waters I fish,no but I'am concerned.start testing and you can find a lot more conditions like this through out the state and the country.     Kez
