Had another striper last night

14" resident fish, Barnegat Bay area. Fished on foot in the back. Took a redheaded swimmer plug.


Found alot of big shrimp and minnows on a flat last night too. No luck on fish there though.

Good report.  I don't think it will be to long now before we start to see more bass in the flats as the bait is starting to show up on a regular basis now.  There were birds working Wednesday around Area 21 on the bay side.  Diving birds is always great to see.  They were hitting bait in the slops of the flats right where the line colors change.

I will have to gice it a try Sunday for a while.

I think the fish are gonna be far and few between for at least another week or two. A good solid week of 60 degree air temps and sunny days, and no huge spikes in the barometric pressure are gonna help. Im already preparing to fish the surf as we speak.

Im putting my time in this season. I kinda goofed around in the fall but now Im hittin it hardcore and doing my research on various areas wherever I go. Im making it a point to broaden my horizons and fish all along the NJ coast by the end of the fall.

Been there done that it is a blast.  You might not learn a lot fishing but you will learn a lot about people.  Have fun.

Right now not to much going on even in the back flats.  I am seeing more and more bait fish there every day but I have yet to hook up yet.

Out front looks real good but the holes are still shifting a bit and that means so are the fish.  I might go out there later in the week to see what happens as my uncle wants to get out there and see that all this talk about surf fishing is all about.  He has been strictly party boats all his life and I think I finally talked him into going out with me.

It would be nice as he is the one that introduced me to fishing over 50 years ago.

And sean gimme a ring, wanted to know if you want to hit brigantine sometime I want to fish the jetty and land that 100 bucks riptide has for the first keeper  ;D ;D
