First trip of the year....(3/27/)
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:20:57 PM »
My son and I hit the Manatoloking Bridge and Beaverdam areas this afternoon in pursuit of some WF. We got the skunk-a-roo, but it was terrific to be out on the water again. Water temps were 48 degrees.

Before we got out we checked out the new bait and tackle shop at the RiverFront Marina (it's on Princeton Ave in Brick). Looks like a real nice shop. Real friendly guys run the place. Even though they don't officially open until tomorrow, they hooked my son and I up with bait and chum for our trip today. I wish them good luck with the new business.

Good try.  I was there in the morning fishing with my uncle and the same nada.  We fished the incoming slack and the beginning of the out gong, again nads.  In fact there was a guy fishing and he had a great chum line going and still nada.  It still was great to be out there again.  I guess we left about 12:20 or so.  We were using blood worms as others were using clams and other artificials.  The area was loaded with boats as well but I did not see any fish coming over the rails.

We got out there at about 5:30, had to wait for the lad to get home from school. We were by the Mantaloking bridge for a little while, the Norma K was there too. I didn't see anyone bring anything over her rails.

We then moved over to the channel leading into the Beaverdam. Had a couple of hits there, but no takers. We were using sandworms and had a chum pot going too. We headed in at around 7pm.

There were a bunch of boats in the area.

We have been going stir crazy all winter, so it was great just to be out there getting the hooks wet again.
