I'm very curious about water depth to be expected.. I understand that things change with tides, storms and of course location, but I am comming from an area where the water is very shallow and getting into 12'+ of water requires a YAK to drop the baits, or you setting on a Jetty. I cant allow myself to carry over any habits from the South that don't apply here.
For instance I used to to throwing Penn 113HLW's (30# Mono) and or 114HLW's (40# Mono) along with some Squidders and similar sized offbrands. Often times having to wade out to the second sand bar, hoping to hit 10' of water but usually just yakking out baits and dropping them..
Am I going to find there to be less need for 150-200 yds of bait deployment here in the north?
I would also hope to avoid having to try and catch fish like Strippers with Lures on a reel that has no levelwind..lol.. Im good, but that gets old after a while. Guess thats where the Egg Beaters come into play.. no offense meant, just needed more strength in drag than they were prepared to deliver in trips past.
As for the Yak reels, I will stick with my Garcia
5000's and 6400C always treated me right with a spool of 20# mono.. I like water ski
