« on: April 08, 2009, 10:47:24 PM »
Going down to Point Pleasant Thursday afternoon till Saturday and was going to get my new rod and reel wet and am looking for some input on fishing the Manasquan Inlet, off the beach or somewhere local.
Thanks again for the help on rod and reel suggestions and appreciated.

I haven't been fishing up there lately, but if I were going to, I'd probably try the north end of the canal for winter flounder.  There used to be a park by the old hospital that you could fish from.  Folks have said there are condos there now.  So I'm not sure if there is access to fish there anymore. 5hrug
At night try casting some FinS and shad lures over by the Rt. 35 bridge for some stripers. t^

Yea they built condos there now and you can no longer access the dock that was on the end. The canal is a great place to fish however.

As I don't fish the canal my best advice is to Google it and look for the roads that will lead you to different spots along it.

Here is an older map where trhe Hospital was there is a condo there.

Here is  a map from Google:

Good Luck

Happy Catching

drew806,
assuming you will be targeting winter flounder, your best bet as far as i'm concerned is to go to the wall about 1 hr after high tide, or sometime on the outgoing.  Get some sandworms for bait, and try to fish of the very western (inland) end of the wall by the Loughran park statue.  There's not much happebning by way of stripers yet, but if you lucked into afew winter flatties i wouldn't be surprised

btw, what combo did you settle on???

goob luck

There is access to the north end of the Canal at Pinebluff and River Aves.  You can basically walk down to the mouth at the Manasquan River.  Parking can be a little tough, but you should be able to find something.

I took a ride over to the Inlet 2 days ago and there wasn't a person fishing anywhere.  The Memorial Park there was flooded and they are doing construction/repair from the demolition of the building.

Good Luck!
