Searchin for the stripes - 4/9
« on: April 09, 2009, 09:10:56 PM »
Left keyport on Schultz's v20 right after the top of the tide this morning.  All the hype on the mad striper bite has gotten everyone jacked!  There was a fleet of some 50 boats anchored in flats/shoal area.  We were loaded with a bushel full of clams.  Dropped the bowtie with the nose into a light westerly.  Put bait on 4 rods.  Chummed like animals believing this was the day.  Weather was incredible.  2 hours passed with a couple of light take-offs on the rods. Perhaps skates...? Looking around we didn't witness a bent rod all morning.  Water temp seemed to slide backwards after the weather earlier in the week.  We recorded 48-49 degrees even in the shallowest of waters throughout the day.  Moved around abit to see if we could mark fish.  Only came across scattered bait no big ones.   Came back to the flats after the change to low.  Chummed like mad again and produced a shortie.   Best is yet to come ;D  Hope to be back at it after the holiday.

Full moon so fishing was hard I worked some local spots for 8 hours in my little boat only to land small fish
