Stripers
« on: April 16, 2009, 03:29:27 PM »
Ok. So I'll be going out Striper fishing for the first time probably at Shrewsbury Rocks or somewhere else along the shore from Manasquan to Sandy Hook next weekend. I can't wait anymore. I'm using 20lb. braid, 30lb. flourocarbon leader. Can I use a triple circle connection? One for the braid, one for the weight, and the bottom one obviously for the leader. Is this a good setup or should I use a slider weight? Thanx guys. . chrz

I, personally, would use a fish finder or hi lo rig.  Only because, I hate casting triple swivels in the surf.  Everything gets tangled up for me.  If you are comfortable throwing that setup it should certainly work.

Good Luck!

Use the slider (fishfinder) rig with a circle hook on the end of the leader. t^

i have always been more of a three-way swivel guy, but i understand the case for fishfinders as well.  If you go with the fishfinder, slide a small bead (get them at walmart, dick's, or any bait shop) on above the knot so the sliding part doesen't demage your knot.

I will put a bead on both sides of the fish finder. One to protect the knot and the other to protect the rod tip.  t^
