Boat registered question
« on: April 21, 2009, 04:14:27 PM »
My friend sold a 8' dingy to someone and we know that it doesn't have to be registered, but what if the other buyer wants to put a power motor on it.. Does it have to be registered at that point?

Any boat that has a ele or gas motor has to be reg. To get a new one you have to get it inspected by the State Marine police and they will look it over and make sure  it is safe and not hot. If you are just going to row it then it wold be fine. t^

Nick, have your buddy supply the new owner with a notorized signed receipt that he sold him the boat, etc.

I believe the only time the Marine Police have to get involved is when you are trying to get a title for the boat. The new owner does not need a title for a vessel this size.
