Met Tony, Tommy and BobG at Tony's house this morning. Loaded up his boat with our gear and trailered to the Trenton ramp.
Put in at 7am and headed to the Trenton Marine terminal to hook into some herring for livelining. The herring snatching was s-l-o-w but we did put eight into the live well. This took
two hours.
Here is why the Trenton Marine terminal is closed to shore based fishermen, although some climbed over the fence and fished anyway.
We made a trip south and fished in the Bordentown area for the striped ones.
Set up on our spot and set the lines. Within twenty minutes BobG had a runoff. The fish dropped the bait and avoided the hook.
Shortly thereafter Tony hooks up with a nice striper and lands it. Quick pictures and back she goes.
After a brief wait I had a quick pickup. The fish did not go far and dropped the bait.
Another fifteen minutes and my liveliner starts paying out again. After a steady pull the reel is put in gear and fish on. A nice fight and I win the battle. In the net, into the boat, pics taken and back in the water.
As I am bringing my fish in Tony hooks up with another fish. This one was shorter than his last. Boated, pics and another quick release.
All total we had the three fish boated and six run offs without a hook up. We also caught another half dozen herring as we waited for the striper bite.
Beautiful weather, good friends and a nice catch. It doesn't get much better than that.
