Pops Soul Shake Down Report
« on: May 22, 2009, 09:28:52 PM »
First fishing run of the season with Drew home from school for the weekend. We left the inlet on the out going tide around 11am looking for bunker and big stripers. We rounded the rocks of Shark River Inlet to be greeted with a chilly breeze and a 49 degree water temp. Needless to say our waters could have been a dessert. We headed North to Shrewsbury rocks only to find everyone hanging by their anchor ropes catching Sea Bass. After a Quick phone call to Capt. Joe (Irish Ayeas) to seek some advice on the area since this was our first adventure to the area. We made a drift jigging Croc spoons I Scored one hungry Seabass. With the winds building we went on the troll and had one knock down. The winds were now out of the south and starting to kick up so we headed back to port with out seeing one diving bird and no schools of bunker. Still a nice day on the water and a chance to catch up on stories from Drew with his Marine Bio days at Sea studying the fishes...  TT^

Catching isn't everything especially when quality time comes so infrequent.
