The Day From Hell PART 2
« on: May 31, 2009, 07:57:56 PM »
Had the Juryn party out today for some striped bass....explained the fish were mostly south but they didnt want to run and were content trying our luck inside....set up on outgoing 6:45 am. had some birds with blues under them so we jigged a few up to get some bent rods....well that was about all the action...blue here, skate there...nothing with the horizontal stripes....waited it out till 1 hour into change of tide hoping the stocking truck would come on by, but it didnt. asked the guys if they would like to fluke and they were more than willing....few for the dinner plate across the chapel hill and alot of short action in front of the pier and terminal. even stopped at atl highlands harbor for a drift....more shorts!!!!
as capt. ron says.....that would be a double shot day!!!!!!!!!!
conservation officer stopped by to say hello at dock today to see how the fishing was as well.

Hey Capt.  I didn't see ya out there today.  If I didn't get stuck, I was about to head to the rocks.. that god.. that would of been a really, really long tow back to AH.

You didn't have such a great catch today, but I wouldn't describe as a "Day From Hell".  It was a beautiful day and you had some action.

Coulda been worse! t^

I understand you are under a lot of pressure to put your customers on the fish.  I'm just saying, it could have been worse.  (i.e. boat problems, someone got hurt, etc.)

Today is not the first time a charter didn't have a great catch.  And besides, you even said they didn't want to take the ride to where you thought you needed to go to catch 'em.

I'm sure you're a good captain and you have confidence in your abilities.  Don't beat yourself up so much!  t^
