catfish's fluke report 6/4
« on: June 05, 2009, 02:23:08 PM »
w/ rain and bad winds in the forcast scrubby and I decided to call out of work and try for some fluke ,We met up in the marina parking lot at 5 and had coffee and decided to let the storm pass, well by time we finished our coffee's we couldnt take it no more and off we went ,As  most of you know scrubby always lands the big one and he did again ,on our first drift he put a 25 incher in the box and I followed w/ a 20 incher ,we thought we found the fish ,this was our first real fluke trip for the season so we had no idea where they were .We bounced around and tried to locate them but were only picking at them w/ about 5-10 fish on every drift but not many keeps ,at about 11 am we only had 4 in the box and knew we were gonna have to work hard for our fish and we were right ,We located a pod of nice fish and went to town on them ,we put a couple keeps in the box but knew they were there ,we worked the area for many drifts but couldnt get them to bite ,we needed 4 more for limmit and were not going home w/o them .we fished for 30 minutes w/o a bite when we both hooked up w/ keeps we put them on the floor and again doubled up w/ the fish we needed ,I started to put the fish away and clean up and scrubby was fishing when he hooked into a sea bass and landed him ,I have never seen a sea bass in the area we were and never heard of one being caught there so that topped the great day on the water .We landed over 60 fish and hit our first boat limmit on our first fluke trip

Did they ask to buy some jigs?  I hear they go for $30 a piece on the water.

Fluke the rest of the season. I am sick of catching striped carp. I only fish for them till fluke come around. I love jigging fluke. I don't know why but I do. Bass are easy watch the fish finder and set up on them. Fluke move all the time and make you scratch your head. W/ this bunker run bass fishing everyone thinks there a pro cuz they land cows. Only the true capt. Can put you on fish before and after
