Headed out solo on the Sea hawk Friday, 7/3 and was joined by a good amount of people all eager to catch some fluke.
First drift was best with a good amount of keepers coming over the rail. I managed 3 nice keepers early on and then caught a decent amount of shorts and a few bluefish. Ended the day with another keeper on the last drift. Pool fish was around 6lbs and caught on the other side of me in the bow. I tied for high hook honors with me and another each getting 4 keepers.
Saturday they again had a very good first drift, but conditions soon detoriated and turned into a pick of fluke. believe a female angler boated the pool fish at just over 6lbs.
Sunday I headed back and this time SnoopyGirl joined me. Once again the first drift seemed most productive with a few bucktailers doing quite well with one getting his limit and another bouncing up 4.
T and I struggled at first and could only get shorts to bite our Gulp tipped Spros.
Midway I finally convince a better fish to bite the buck and get a nice 4.5lb+ fish into the boat. T soon tops that with a nice 5lb class fish.
Shortly after that she has her lil spinning rod bent over and calls for the net. Her new personal best 8lb fluke comes over the rail
We ended the day with only three keepers, but they were the top 3 fish on the boat and T claimed the pool.
All fish caught on bucktails 3/4oz to 1.5oz tipped with Gulp, no teasers. Straight out bucktail'n.
T definetely earned her new personal best and very proud of her.
