Raritan Bay Fluking 7/6
« on: July 06, 2009, 08:02:51 PM »
got a late start today, had to pick up my ramp permit stickers at Sayreville recreation and they didn't open until 8.out of Sayreville with regular fishing buddies Dave and John, plan was to start in the back and work our way up front, spoke to Capt Carl (Wet Dreams)just before leaving the  ramp, said he had a bite going, told him I'd give him another shout if I made it up.started fishing at the train bridge, and worked that area to the sand barges South Amboy, started picking fish over 17 but not 18 inches, just enough to suck you in to keep trying there, then moved out in the channel the Ny side near the E can.I was able to get a nice fat 23 incher, stayed here picking the 17 inchers, moved up into the Red Bank Reach and picked A few shorts.bite sort of slowed early in the afternoon.moved back to the E can and worked the channel going back towards the lighthouse,we were able to pick a few more keepers.tried the South Amboy area again and gave it a last effort by the train bridge before coming in.1 short at the bridge.ended the day with 5 keepers,3 over 20 inches, that's including the 23 incher.bait for the day was squid, smelt and bluefish strips and they all worked.finally seemed like a summer day out there.headed in around 4:30,great day on the water.I'll be out of commission for a little while, the bride is getting foot surgery wednesday and will be on crutches for awhile,I'll be looking out for her needs and helping her the best I can, hopefully it won't be to long.     Kez
