Just found the site and I love it

I just registered today and would like to say hello. I live in PA and don't get to get out as much as I would like to, but when I do get down the shore, I love to fish. I grew up fishing, crabbing and clamming and get down there every now and then to do so. I got out 3 weeks ago for an awesome night bluefish trip and plan to be down on July 26th for a fluke double trip. August vacation should provide crabbing and clamming fun as well. I need a good clamming spot if anyone has one, don't worry, my distance from the shore ensures you I will not clean it out! ;D

I usually vacation in Seaside Park and crab the bay in Ortley Beach. When I was younger I remember a clamming/crabbing trip to Harvey Cedars??? I wish I could find that place again, we absolutely crushed them that day, but that was MANY moons ago. Can I purchase a non-resident shellfish liscense at the tackle shops down the shore?

Welcome to the site tatz. Any questions just ask. Anything you can add, please do so.

Here is the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife site. NJ residents can get their license/permits thru this site. I believe out of state residents can also but am not positive about that. Check it out. It is an additional $2 convenience fee to use the site but you can print the license/permit out as many times as necessary (in case you misplace your original, as I have done).

Welcome grtn!  No worry about cleaning out anything...it's a big Bay and Ocean and plenty to go around!  When you get your shellfish license, they will give you a map of the open waters for this time of year.  You can also get that info at the State Website link that Irish Ayes posted.  I know they do real well clamming on the bayside of Island Beach State Park in the Sedge Islands, which I am pretty sure will be open waters.
