SHBA fluke tourney 7-11 / 7-12
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:50:03 PM »
Day 1.... 7-11

fished with LAB and Backdoor Billy in the Sandy Hook Bay Anglers 2 day tourney....

fished the beach and ocean from SH to Monmouth Beach... had 10 keepers today with 25-30 shorts mixed in.... our biggest 2 were 8.8 and 9.0 Lbs... with a 6.7 and a few 5's and 4's to boot.... ALL fish today were taken on the bucktails with either bunker or bluefish strips....... the 9.0 lber has us in 3rd place after day one with a 10.06 and a 9.2 on top of us.... back at it tomorrow....

Day 2 ... 7-12

WELL day 2 found us down the beach again..... nice westerly winds kept the humidity way down....

fish some familiar areas from SH to Monmouth beach... We ended up with 16 keepers, 10 between 5 and 7.5#; nothing bigger (which we were looking for) ... Bucktails and fresh bunker strips were used and obviously worked..... finished the tourney with the 6th place money.... while a good friend of mine Capt Vito Manzi took the 4300.00 first place prize with a sweet 11 lb mat

Nice catch and congrats on placing for some green.  t^

Too bad it was not a five fish tourney, you would have probably won hands down with the first day's catch.
