Fishing at IBSP is a real pain in the @$$ anymore!  We went out there for a after dinner beach trip with the kids.  We weren't swimming, just walking above the high tide line.  Kids were playing in the sand and I had my bag and pole.  We also have a yearly gate pass...it was 6:45 PM and they gave me a hard time about only having 1 pole and 5 people.  It was still 2 hours until dark.  I said forget this and went back over to South Seaside Park at 23rd Ave!

I don't even know if I will buy a gate pass next year 5hrug?  Had some time to fish this afternoon and guess what, IBSP>>FULL>>CLOSED  rgmn rgmn rgmn.  I can't win.  Great place, just too many rules anymore.  We used to put our pass on the rearview mirror and they would wave us in grtn.

I was able to get through on Sunday even with the FULL CLOSED sign up and Park Rangers waving people off.

I know with the BB pass I get waved through all the time, with no problems.

If I remember right, the reason they close the park is because all of the legal parking spots are taken. With the beach buggy pass you don't need a parking spot so they let you in.  t^

You are correct Capt Joe.  I called the Park the other day and found that out.  What I don't understand is, how do the people parked at A23 get all the way back to the bathing beaches??  Walking?  They really shouldn't be swimming on unguarded beaches in there.  If they closed the park to bathers when the bathing beaches lots were full, they could still allow fisherman in to park.  It would be nice, but things have been pretty much they same there for 30+ years so I don't expect them to change it now.

I will stick to night fishing when no one is around ;D.

If I remember correctly, there is also a limit to the number of buggys in the park at one time.  Not sure they really count it though.

Yup.  500 max.  Last Sunday it sure looked like there were more than 500 out there!

First I heard of that Lt, but I haven't been a beach rat for about twenty+ years now.   ;D

Thanks for the info

That's all correct plus if the park is closed to both BB and the bathers if you have a kayak you can still launch off A21 with a BB pass.  Don't ask me why...But I am glad I have choices.  In all my time going out there I have not been denied access yet.   TT^
