Raritan Bay Fluking 8/4
« on: August 04, 2009, 05:44:10 PM »
out of Sayreville this morning around 6:30 with fishing buddies John and Dave. The river on the the way out very dirty and lot of debris in the water, had to run a little slower than usual down the river, it was like a mine field with the debris.  nosmly  hit the open bay and made a short drift in the Reach at the 46 can and no takers, made a run up and stopped vicinity between the 1 buoy and the TC buoy, the full fleet in this area, must have been 6 to 7 head boats.on the very first drift Dave gets a 21 incher,Jonn gets a 21 incher and also one just over 19 inches,me along for the ride, just a few shorts.stayed in this area and had a steady pick but no more keepers.decided to go around the hook and try the Sandy Hook Channel, suprisingly very few boats here,I know why,no fish.while out here got a shout from Eddie( Hunter 2)he got out around 9 and was fishing the triangle area and had a few shorts and 1 keeper that was released, hoping to run into him but at opposite ends of the Bay.headed back in and spent the remainder of the day between the 1 buoy and the TC buoy.I was able to latch onto my only keeper of the day a nice fat flattie just over 22 inches that took a bunker strip, with a blood worm fish bite and a squid strip.the fish that  John and Dave caught took a smelt and squid strip.spent the rest of the day here with a steady slow pick, but no more keepers, some missing by a 1/2 inch, headed in around 1:45.a real good day on the water. on the way home stopped at gas station in Sayreville to top off my tanks and did some bartering with the attendant and gave him my 22 inch plus Fluke,so I didn't get a picture of it like I did with John and Daves catch when we got back.Dave and John filet the fish while I tended to unhooking the trailer.they finished up and took off,I don't have any more room in my garden to bury the fish carcasses and its the wrong time of the year to leave them in the garbage can, went that route once, the neighbors wanted to kill me.so took them down the river near me,which I have done in the past, and went to toss them out of the pail, with the river having been high the bank is muddy,I slip down the embankment on my rear, end up partially in the river and full of mud.when I come home a cussing and tell the bride, she busts out laughing and says she wishes she could have been there to see it ;D    Kez

Great report Kez!  BTW, you could always freeze those carcasses until garbage day.  Might save you from the slippery ride, muddy clothes and your wife's ridicule! ;D

I don't think that would go over to well with the bride, she's not to keen on me even storing bait there.

Nice report Kez. Too bad you didn't have a video of the river slide. Ya could have won the funny video show and made some cash.  TT^

Fine detailed report as usual Kez!.. Nice day of action there  t^  Glad to hear you did'nt let a little thing like a mudslide ruin your day..  As far as I'm concerned, as long as the mess is on the OUTSIDE of the pants, I consider it a good day!  rofla   chrz
