It's been a while since I've been able to get on the water. In fact, it's been over a month!
So, it was really nice to finally get out with Capt. Joe yesterday. Rounding out the crew was Bob G, Johnny Oz and "Naked" Eddie.
Joe had contemplated running offshore for a shot at some pelagics, but with severe thunderstorms in the forecast, he decided to stay inshore for some fluking instead. We headed north and I started out with a one ounce bucktail. But, by the end of the day we each had 8 and 10 ounces of lead on.
We had steady action all day. Johnny Oz had the hot hand and wound up with high hook honors. Keepers (as usual) were not in great abundance. However, we did manage to put seven in the cooler, up to around 22". Several sea bass and some (according to Johnny Oz) "Carolina" ling also made it to the fillet table.
It was another fun and productive day on the Irish Ayes. It was great to get out there after such a long layoff! A lot of busting and a ton of laughs!
