Atlantic Highlands has a free fishing and crabbing pier in the harbor.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

The closest Pier to you for saltwater fishing, that I know of, is in Perth Amboy.  Take a look at our NJ Pier Locations and see if any of those would help you out or not.  I have not fished them, but I have been to them.  The waterfront in Perth Amboy is completely renovated and very nice.

Have you considered doing any freshwater fishing?  I am sure there are closer places to fish freshwater.  The only thing is, you would need fishing licenses then.

Good luck!

Good luck!  There are 3 piers along the Perth Amboy Waterfront you can try.  I would concentrate on snappers and fluke during August.  That will be your best bet.

Don't forget to look in the Bayonne area as well.  I am sure a couple of guys will chime in soon.

That is true!  There are lots of places to fish farther north, along walkways and bulkhead, just not any piers that I have been able to locate for fishing.
