Today was one of the best days of the year in regards to an overall fishing day....TOP 3!
Weather: 93 degrees on the water no humidity.
Wind: None.
Water: Glass, one the flatest I've seen it all year -- even out in the ocean around the hook, not just in the bay.
Location: Ambrose Channel -- drifted buoy #10 - #8.
Depth: 65 feet - 80 feet.
Bait: Fresh Squid, Killies and by far the best thing ever GULP fake bait, used the crabs and killie replicas; these things work freakin' great -- Better than real bait that is no BS. Stuff is ridiculously expensive though but can be reused many many times and comes in this like vinegaresque liquid.
On top of all these perfect conditions, we (3 people) caught at least 60 fish, no exaggeration, consisting of Fluke, Sea Bass and Sea Robins. 4 Keeper Fluke largest being 21'. Everything else is right around 16 1/2 - 17 1/2 (God Damn!!!)
We fished the switching of the tides from descending into low tide and then straight through until the rise of high tide. Bite never stopped and we were catching fish on our first drift.
We noticed today that when we used the combo of live killie and fresh squid it would attract sea robins, when we used just squid or squid and Gulp -- we were only pulling in fluke. Go Figure!
Also, last week we fished outside the channel more up the coast and killed them too. Never had to restart our drift, just kept going and never stopped catching fish. Again, using GULP as our main bait. Stuff is worth the 45$ for the little bucket!

On A Side Note: My buddy came along with us today and actually enjoys eating Sea Robin stew. He claims his mother makes an excellent stew and it tastes phenomenal, so he ended up keeping 12 Sea Robins, I'm sure no one minded that! LOL!!! Anyone ever have this? We make him bring a black bag with him so no one sees us taking them off the boat! We are embarassed!
