Irish Ayes Sunday fluking 8-16-09
« on: August 16, 2009, 07:47:18 PM »
Had George and Mark aboard today. Made our first drift about a mile and a half out of the inlet on a nice lump. I dropped a spro under a teaser to the bottom, cranked the handle on my Shimano and immediately felt the weight of a fish on my line. Set the hook and brought a ninteen and a half inch fluke to the deck. In the box he went. Finished the drift with several short fluke and a few skates. Made several more drifts and could only find short fluke and skates.

Made a move to Squidhead. Passed many boats on the way. They were in 30-40 feet of water...did not see a net move on any of the boats.

Spent the rest of the day at Squidhead where we boxed five more fluke and released way too many short fluke. I boated the largest of the day and my largest this season. Mr Fluke measured twenty seven inches and lite the scale up at seven point two pounds. Most fish came on whole squid baits fished above a four ounce spro type jig.

Saw and spoke to Skip on Pop's Soul. He came on over when the bite slowed where he was fishing. I saw a few fish come over his gunnels while he was there. t^

Will be at it again tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday...  TT^
