Black Sea Bass
« on: August 26, 2009, 07:24:18 PM »
All,

Below is the ASMFS letter on the potential closrue of black sea bass for the rest of 2009.  I wrtoe to this "gentleman" and I urge you to do the same.  We have to stop lying down and taking it from the government we fund with our tax money.  Enough is enough.  They talk about fluke....  This year has been an absolute disaster.

Please people, lets write this director of ASMFS and please let him know that this is not the action that needs to be taken.

I thank you and the information is below.  Also, if anyone knows Captain Tony Bogan, we could use him now.  He is terrific at this kind of stuff.

ASMFC Summer Flounder, Scup and Black Sea Bass Board to Meet in September to Discuss

Recreational Overages

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Interstate Fisheries Management Program Policy Board directed the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Management Board (Board) to consider potential overages for all three species and take action prior to September 1. This directive was taken in response information presented to the Policy Board regarding available black sea bass preliminary recreational harvest estimates and projections indicating that harvest will likely result in significant quota overages. Board action could include emergency measures to prevent further overages in recreational fisheries for summer flounder, scup, and black sea bass. A press release will be issued following finalization of meeting arrangements.

For more information, please contact Robert Beal, ISFMP Director, at (202)289-6400 or <rbeal@asmfc.org>.

All,

Here is some information on Black Sea Bass.  Once you see this you will know the government that you elected is against you.  Also, your tax money is paying for this garbage.  This link paints a nice picture.  So why the ungency to close sea bass?  Politics, PEW and stealing more of your tax money.

Thanks for the info Jim. I will not be around a computer, hopefully someone can pick up on this and find out what is happening.

I don't know how they can say we are overfishing when they don't have a clue as to what is going on.  nosmly

All,

I wrote to the Weakfish management person on the Broken Bobber's post.  She wrote back to me and added my comments to the weakfish board.  She also wrote to the black sea bass coorninator and added my sea bass comments.

The sea bass person is TKerns@asmfc.org

Write to them and also let them know that Robert Beal of ASMFC has failed the tax payers by not responding to the concerned public via the emails he received.  I have called for his resignation because I do not want my tax money paying his salary.
