I've been talking with Bucktail about putting a new setup together.

The main use of this setup will be striper jigging, but I'd like to be able to take it along on tuna jigging trips on my friends boat. I know right off the bat that its going to be light for tuna, but I'm OK with that. Its not going to see that kind of action constantly.

I thinking of a Torium 20 spooled with 50lb PowerPro on a Trevala. TVC-70ML.

My other question is what is the difference between the Trevala and the Trevala F? I know I read it somewhere but I forget. Thanks!

If you're matching it up to a Torium 20 I would go with the medium or medium heavy Trevalla.  I have the Trevalla F 6'3" Medium and it's great for stripers!   I haven't had an opportunity to test it out on tuna though.

At the show today and got some good council from offshore guys.  Since this thread is dedicated to the Trevala jigging system, here's my question.  Anyone have any experience with the new TC4 TVC 66 H with a Tyrnos 12 2 speed?  Primary application BFT. Seems well balanced. Reasonably priced.  The Tyrnos 16 2 speed seemed too clunky.  Looking to buy some decent equipment and target these this year and I have limited experience here. I understand and can see that this setup would also be a great setup for Stripes and also Tog.  Any input is apprecitated.

Just to add, Santa (My sister) was nice this year and brought me the TVC70M and a Torium 20. Had Fred's spool it up last wknd, 300yds of 65lb Power Pro backed with 90yds of 50lb mono. I can't wait!!!

Have I been off the water too long? No one mentions the Penn International series for reels? A little pricey, but by carefully matching the rods and line weights, you have virtually the same action for the whole series of rods/reels on your vessel.

Now let the flaming begin.

Nah, no flaming here adienviro. 

And there's nothing at all wrong with the Penn reels. In fact, I own many of them including the International 50W. Great reel and I would recommend it to anyone. But I'm only a novice at the off shore game and don't get too into recommending things I know very little about (usually  ).

I'm sure those Internationals are up to the task of taming some big fish, but I think they would be too heavy for jigging all day IMO.

I'm an offshore novice as well.  So take what I say with that caveat.  I did get a chance to use the combo I described in my first post on a tuna trip this past summer.  And I did get to land a 60 lber on it.  However, I do recognize the need to beef up my tackle a bit.

So, over the winter I'm working on putting together some outfits for jigging and casting.  So far, for jigging, I've managed to secure a Shimano Trinidad 40N matched to a Star Plasma XH.  Still looking to get another jigging stick and a popping outfit to throw poppers, spooks, swimmers and Ronz baits.

Can't wait for next season!

Going to pick up the Torium 30. was going to match it with the TVC60H. ( Shimano recommends it)  Should I upgrade to the f series.. and if so what action? and size.. the 6'3?

the TFS63M  or the TFS63MH

This will be mostly inshore..

hello guys can i ask u guys something iam goin to the cayon in sept for tuna i rented that ppole but we are allso going for dolphin i got 3 pooll 2 spinners and 1 big bait caster its a penn 340 gt wat lb line do u rec for this i know ther all big fish plus any recs on lures thnks E02
