The boys wanted to go fishing again, so I loaded up, got bait, picked up my brother in law and headed out. Skies were cloudy and overcast with some showers on and off.
We were fishing by 3:30 PM or so. We started in the same place, northwest side of the lake. We were fishing shiners under bobbers again. We only got one hit after 1 1/2 or so...so we moved to the northeast side(other side of the bridge) and gave that a shot. Only a couple of hits again, no hook ups...all very small pickerel biting at the shiners and following them, but not eating. Was getting later and we had good luck on the other side around this time, so we went back over there. First cast on the other side again, bobber is gone. Set the hook and fish on. Hand it off to my son to reel in. Average size pickerel. Thought this was the start to some action...BUT that was the last hit.
Finished off the 2 dozen shiners, cleaned up and headed home around 6:30 or so. Funny how a few days changes the bite. Must be from the rain we had earlier in the week, the current weather or the lower temps at night. Whatever it was, it shut the bite down
. It was a good day though. Kids lasted a really long time, my brother in law got some more practice in and I had a good time just being out!
