What do you guy's do with you batterys over the winter?

I have five Batt in my boat is it good to take them out or keep them in the boat over the winter?

I take mine out and keep them on a trickle charger. You can pull the batteries and run a full charge on them and check them once a month while in storage to make sure the charge has not gone done down any. If it has, charge em up to full again. Keep them clean and dry and they will be good to go in the spring.

  Plus keep them off the cold concrete floor.  I had 2 batteries that somehow went bad over the winter and I was told that the concrete and the battery casings react and can discharge them especially if it is below freezing.

I now keep mine on 2X4's off the floor and have had no problems since.

I have one for the big motor two for my bow motor and two for the riptide motor they r a 24 v

Northern Tool now has battery desulfators for about $40 heard they can save years on the batties that sit all winter. Pete

if I had 5 batteries in my boat I'd be selling them 

hell how does that that thing even float with all that lead in it?

On my own boats, I take them out and bring them inside. Check and charg'em once a month. Today's batteries can be stored on concrete with no ill effects. Mine stay in my office. My brother in law kept his Delco's in his 04 SeaSwirl every year. After 3 years he wanted new ones. Guess where his old ones are?

Keeping batteries on a cement floor is an old wives tale. I keep two batteries on the concrete floor in the crawl space in my house over the winter, and every spring they crank the boat with no problems. The trick is to make sure they are fully charged before putting them away for the winter. Also, never use tap water to top them off. Always use distilled water. Tap water contains minerals which will collect on the lead plates and kill the battery.
