The class, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., meets the needs of boaters and personal watercraft (PWC) operators for a basic overview of boat and PWC operation, while meeting the state requirements for boating safety education certification. As of June 2009 all boaters must have the New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate or face the possibility of a minimum fine of $150.

The course requires a $65 fee, which covers the cost of the course and all materials.

im sorry, but i have to disagree with these courses done through the private sector.

not against teh course itself,, but to whom your paying your dollars to.

if your gonna do a safety course, sign up with your local coast guard auxillary. let the money go back into thier organizations, which patrol your waters on a volunteer basis and not someone elses pocket.

dont get me wrong bugman, im not attacking you or trying to, and letting the public know is a good thing,, its just one of my pet-peeves i guess.

every one i've talked to for the past 3 years or so who was going to take a course, i talked into taking one through their local auxillary.

to me it just makes sense,, give your monies to some organization, who has the potential to actually "save" your life one day, and whom are genuinely concerned about your safety,,,, or give your money to someone who will be able to make another payment on his/her mercedes for the month,,,,,

to me its a no brainer, and wish/hope every one else see's it that way.
