NY Steelhead
« on: October 27, 2009, 03:34:38 PM »
Hi all, just got back from Up state NY fishing for steelhead on the fly rod. Was at the salmon River and we caught and released 8 steelheads and had many long releases. ;D These rockets are something to land on the fly rod. We also had a bonus as some fresh coho salmon came up. We caught three of about 8lbs each. Sorry no pics dang camera would not work :P

nice report....  I am spoiled from fishing the erie tribs for steelhead, but with that said... I will be going to the salmon river this sun, mon, tues.  I will post a report even though I know it will not be good.  Every time I go, they raise the water levels to way over a 1,000 cfs just to mess my trip up.  If your reading this and work at the damn dam, don't raise the water levels until next weds.
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

If they raise the river buy a map and head all the smaller creeks(uncontrolled) they have good runs of steelhead and big browns this time of the year!

Will be up the first two weeks of nov befor the blackfish grind!

Nice catch spearzonkers!!!
