« on: July 25, 2007, 02:26:09 AM »
In the first week of August i will be at Ocean City and I am going to surf fishing in the evening and at night. I am wondering how it is there any any tips you want to give...

Thanks

My son and I went this past Sat. and the seaweed was at its worst. forget the ocean front. We had to go to the back bay, the seaweed was still there but not as bad. The stripers were the fish of the day. 7 on the day. we kept a 34 and a 31 inch. clams was the only thing they would bite on. hope this helps you out. Good luck.

Welcome Aboard Hammer head124,

It is always good to have people on board that like to share their info freely.

And good luck cwbsbll1 I fish mostly surf and that weed problem can be nasty I am going out later today to IBSP.  You might want to consider the time of day to go if targeting stripers. Dusk and dawnm and if that co insides with tide changes even better.

Happy Catching

I will be planning on fishing at dusk into the night... I also plan on having three rods, one rod with clam for stripers, one with ethier bunker or finger mullet for blues and the other one closer in with fish bites for kingfish.

What are the best rigs to use and is it better to fish with bunker or finger mullet when bluefishing?

Thanks

Hi cwbsbll1,

Let's see:

1. Blues: I use a mullet rig and mullet.
2. Stripers: I would use a fishfinder rig wit heither clam or a bunker head.
3. Kingfish: I would use a fishfinder rig with a small piece of clam.

Good luck,

Capt. Ed

Years ago I use to head out that inlet.
There were always a lot of fisherman on it.  I'd take a drive North when I got there and have a look at it accessibility.

If fishing on the beach off the boardwalk.  you will notice about every mile or so there are rain water discharge pipes leading into the ocean. I'd fish near them.

Blood worms for Kingfish off 21st to 23rd street. Check in with Finatics Bait and tackle for the reel skinny.
