Left my Contender in the slip and jumped on my buddy Fred's boat for another shot at the elusive Thunnus thynnus. Conditions were perfect with the full moon and a front coming through so we played hookie from work and went after em. We were out before sun up and immediately upon arriving on the grounds we had tuna from 40-150 pounds busting 360 around the boat. We trolled and threw jigs and poppers at busting fish for 3 hours without a touch. Then it happened - we got bit on the troll and for a change I got to fight a fish instead of driving the boat. The fish made a couple of nice runs and when he came to the leader Fred's aim with the gafff was true and we had a 46" fish in the boat. We bled it, bagged it and went back on the troll only to lose a second fish- probably our over - to a straightened hook. Sorry for the quality of the pic but it is a cell phone.
