Second time at the hook
« on: June 24, 2007, 05:24:27 PM »
Well, I think I better play the lottery tonight for how lucky I have been this year fluking.  27in. 8.2lb. fluke on the second cast off the tip of the hook.  Plenty of shorts and sea robins.  My homemade teasers / ball jig combo tipped with gulp and squid did the job.  I have cell phone pictures as for now, but later tonight I will have some better pictures to post.

Very nice fish!  I do believe that is the first boast shirt for the season.  Good job!  t^ t^

Good Job, and nice catching...

Thanks guys,

That was my fifth keeper ever.  My second keeper that came off the Sykk Fish with Joey G was 6.1 lb.
So, the lottery didn't work out for me last night, as long as I'm fishing my days off, I am happy.
(young gull) I wish those were tan lines on my feet above,  I can't even walk today.  Almost as bad as the pic below with Joey G,  my face has been peeling for a week.  It hurt to smile for the picture ;D

Bri that is a sweet a$$ fish, especially off the beach. I fished that EXACT same spot, just a day earlier, haha. Caught no keepers, about 25 shorts. And it looks from ur picture, you were right around the bend and that is where i was fishing, right at that point, haha. Very Nice Job, congratz on the 1st 8 lb fluke.  t^ t^ They are here boys!!!!

Welcome Aboard soxfanjp,

Right now it seems like jigs with just about anything hanging off the back will work.  I like to use Gulp baits they work plus they last almost forever.

If your going to try for striped bass off the beach it seems like the best times would be dusk or dawn an hour both sides is magic hour.

Good Catching...

That's one pretty catch!  You need to invest in some sunblock son.
