Well I finished my rod building class and brought home my first custom made rod yesterday.

Here are some pics of the butt wrap and a guide!!

Let the addiction kick in now!!!!

I think I'm going to make an 8' casting rod for early striper season in waders!!

its really not that hard and very rewarding. i urge everyone to try it.  it doesnt actually help my business saying that, but yes, everyone go and try it!!!

rob, you just put a high build finish on top of those feathers on the rod you had pictures posted for?  The feathers take well to the finish?

i actually havent put a finish on them yet. im going to use a flexcoat lite finish though.

That was my first rod ever built too.. I'm planning my next rod now.

You going to put two coats of flex lite on it?
