Thanks Ayes.  As I mentioned in my introduction thread I am really taking my solo boating experience in small steps.  Haven't made the venture past Flynn's yet.  Even with all my years going out on and even manning other people's boats it still resonates differently for me now that I am in charge and responsible for the lives on my vessel.

And that is the attitude that will get you thru the learning stages...being responsible! It's too easy to jump the gun and wonder out where you should not be. It will all fit together in time.

That was a great read. I've never tried bucktailing for fluke but I'm definitely going to give it a shot next time I head out. Is there any particular bait that people like? I picked up some Berkley Gulp Shrimp, which I plan to use as a teaser above the bucktail, but I'm not fully sure of what kind of bait to use (squid? perhaps another Gulp shrimp?). I also have some 4" chartreuse curly tail grubs, so that's another possibility. As far as squid goes, I have used it before but have never had much luck on it besides catching sea robin and skates (ugh). I also get confounded on which type of squid to use - the clean kind or the kind that still has all the ink in it.
