Floscan Install?

While the recent nice weather has me tempted to tear the wrapper off the Scout, I've lived here in the NE too long to disregard the whole " out like a lion thing"  this early.. but I am getting things lined up..  As my tach started acting up at the end of last season, and I because really been wanting one anyway to get a better grip on how to get the best performance out of this boat, I think I want to replace the tach with a Floscan.. As my mechanical skills more resemble my family's trade (butchers),  I likely won't try installing this myself.. Anyone have an idea what I will be looking at as far as labor hours to expect on a 320 hp Cummins/mercruiser 4.6L ?    Any other thoughts /input concerning Floscans  from any of the faithful are as always, greatly appreciated

Something like 3-4 hrs, depending on how bad the access is to the back of the helm.

Floscans are real nice, I've been eyeing one for awhile now. Too much other must-do stuff for me on YSA before I get to the nice to do....

Everytime I read one of Jimmy's posts I am reminded that BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thou$$$$

Lol.. so true Warren.. and every part on a boat is on its way to being broken.. but on the bright side,  access to the back of the helm is a piece of cake.. undo 2-3 latches, and the whole helm tilts forward to allow access to gauges & electronics modules..

Yes Mark, Yes Warren, The flo scan is a great thing...much better than the "money scan". If we installed the "money scan" it would definately read "B reak O ut A nother T housand "

I'm curious also on what one would cost me installed.  It's nice to have, but like other said, the money may needed to be spent elsewhere on the boat first, but def. a want to have option.

I have 2 tanks on the Grady.  My reserve take is only 50 gallons.  I plan on running that take for a while and see how many trips that gets me, then try to do the math. The math is easier when you are using a small tank.

Nicky my Grady has only 1 engine and 1 tank. Sometimes I burn 50gals on one trip!!!! I have calculated it out- I get about 1-2mpg depending on conditions.

that my guestimate also.  If I am out all day and burn my entire reserve tank, then I will have a good feel on how much gas is being used on that particular type of day that I am out and how far I run.  Early trips in the raritan, i will burn almost nothing.  When I burn down to the rock from the hook and drift for fluke, start and re-start the boat after every drift, I will get a better feel..
