Another try on the beach

Gave it another shot last night in Cliffwood for 2 hours. Clams, but no luck. Most action was a dead schoolie that floated by.

What size hooks are you using?  I would recommend a 3/0 to a 5/0 circle.  Why because the temps are still low to where the fish are lethargic.  They are still only grabbing scraps on the bottom so make your offerings small.

At this time of year I would not dead stick.  They are just mouthing things and you should feel just a bump at first, than comes the pickup and a slow swim away at that point just start reeling in.

Good advice paul, I was using a 7/0 last week and had a few tugs with no hookups. Chris had a 5/0 and caught one.. t^
