Stripers 4/21
« on: April 21, 2010, 06:55:03 PM »
John and myself out of Sayreville this morning around 8 and headed for the hook looking to pickup on the hot bite that was had yesterday, started trolling the Knoll with stretch 25s,spoke with Salty Dog(Stew)who was nearby and he had trolled one up at 29 inches and that was it.wasn't at it long and matched his with also a 29 incher that went in the box and that was it,decided to move out and see if we could find some fish, got out beyond the 2 candle sticks and started marking a lot, tossed them the storm shads and actually watched one follow it to the boat, finally fish on and get it to the boat it's a jumbo yellow eyed Striper with no stripes, that bit my storm shad in half.  nosmly continue throwing everything at them and no takers.tried the troll in the area and hooked up what I Thought was a big bass, the way I had trouble getting it up and finally comes up way out and see the swirl, get it to the boat and it's another jumbo yellow eye.moved and worked the Knoll area some more with no hookups, around 12:30 decide to move and try back bay before the wind picks up.moved to the Reach and found a few marks and started jigging, not here long and get a call from Ben (Salty Dogs fishing buddy) that they have a hot bite on the troll on the other side of the bay, shoot right over where they were and proceed to go on the troll with the stretch 25s and see them hooking up and also one other boat hooking up. not at it long and we're also hooked up.we had a hot steady bite for quite awhile, with John getting the biggest, one just over 35 inches at about 20 lbs,a real fat fish.we limited out with some nice fish and did the catch and release until the bite died.around 2 ready to head in and pulled up to Stew and thanked him for getting us on the bite, took a picture of him and Ben and left them fishing and we headed in.great day on the water, this kid is tired after 2 full days in row.   Kez
