Headed out for another day of Blackfishing. Greg Vongas Had the boat Chartered today with fellow Hi- Mar members Reel Ron, Tuna Tales Joe, Joe F, Bob K, and Cool Hand Al.
Stopped at our first drop... no life besides a couple of short cod... Got right out of there.
Set up on my second piece and 3 rods were bent before i got down the stairs... Insta life... Very good bite developed... Mostly all nice size boxers at a quick pace very few shorts... Everyone put a few in the boat and Greg and Al were on fire... Greg was drop and reel keepers and landed a double limit ( Only taking a limit) by 8:45 with Al right behind Him!!! The Crew Cont to slug away at em until we had a Full boat Limit By 10 am!!! Went into release mode and everyone cont to catch some nice size blackfish...Everyone cont to catch some nice fish to 7lbs releasing them for another day!!!
Around 11 am got a call(Thanks Allen) that bass were biting closer to home... So in true Monger form we gave the guys the choice to cont to catch the Blackfish or go try for some bass... Sealed up the cooler and put the jigs on
Headed to the jig Bite and when we got there the birds were diving and bass and Blues pushing water!!! We landed a few keepers and a couple shorts on our first drift... It broke up a bit but we had a couple more good cracks at em on readings before it fizzled puting another 6 keepers and shorts in the boat... Lots of bass following the lures to the top... Seems like a nice spread of New fish... A few more drifts and we called it a Day.
Nice to see the Blackfish finally chewin the way they should... They ate the clam but they also crushed the green crabs very nice to see!!!
Congrats to all the guys for putting a bunch of nice fish in the boat Blackfish ans Bass... Greg Vongas lived up to his hi mar man of the year award... He had over 15 Keeper size Blackfish by 11 am ( Only taking home a Limit) and his limit of stripers!!! Al been with us for a couple of Slow trips the last few weeks but he made up for it today also hooking more than 15+ Keepers by 11 am!!!
By days end we caught somewhere around 60 Keeper Blackfish and some shorts before lunch time with everyone taking home a legal limit and releasing the rest... We also jigged up 9 keeper Stripers and a couple blues!!!
After a few slow bottom trips it was nice to see them chew good for a change... also nice to see a nice new spread of bass down our way!!!

Will be back at the Blackfish when the weather lets us until it closes and Jigging bass as well... Got a few spots Left on Tues and Wed for Blackfish last crack at em... Then it will be Striper Fishing!!!
